I’m just someone who spent decades doing the work — raising a family, running a business, caring for aging parents, pouring everything into everyone else — and one day looked up and thought when is it my turn?

My dad was an entrepreneur until the day he died. No college degree, just grit and the belief that you could always build something. That mindset is in my blood. My husband and I started our service business when we were young and in February it will be 25 years. I’ve had my hands in every part of it — the good, the bad, and everything in between. Not the technical work — that’s his lane — but everything else? That was mine.

Along the way I became part of the sandwich generation. Raising two daughters while caring for my parents. Watching my dad pass. Navigating a complicated relationship with my mom while still showing up for her every single day until she was safe and cared for. You probably know exactly what that feels like.

Here’s where I am today: my daughter — the one with the MBA — is running the business and exceeding every expectation I ever had. My mom is cared for. And for the first time in 25 years I have time that is genuinely mine.

I have all this experience. All this life. And I wasn’t about to let it just sit there.
